Kalispell, Mont. — Today, following the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding state laws that protect girls’ and women’s sports, Republican nominee for Congress in Montana’s first congressional district Aaron Flint called out MT-01 Democrat nominee and LGBTQ activist and lobbyist Sam Forstag for fighting against girls in sports. Flint also praised the Court’s affirmation of what Montana families, parents, and female athletes have known all along: men do not belong in girls’ and women’s sports. During his time as a state wide radio host, Flint consistently supported this common sense position, which Montana’s and Americans overwhelmingly support. The Court upheld laws in Idaho and West Virginia that reserve girls’ and women’s sports for biological females, reinforcing similar laws adopted in Montana.
“The Supreme Court got it right,” Flint said. “This is a victory for common sense, for fairness, and for every young woman who has worked hard to compete on a level playing field. Sam Forstag wasn’t just on the wrong side of this issue. He actively lobbied against Montana’s effort to protect girls’ sports and keep predators out of girls bathrooms. Today, the highest court in the land confirmed that Montana got it right and LGBTQ lobbyist Sam Forstag got it wrong.”
In a now-deleted Facebook post from March 2021, while serving as Legislative Director for the ACLU of Montana, Forstag lobbied against and publicly urged Montanans to oppose HB 112, legislation protecting girls’ and women’s school sports by requiring athletic teams to be designated according to biological sex. Governor Greg Gianforte signed the bill into law later that year.
During his tenure at the ACLU of Montana, where he was employed to conduct “full time lobbying at the Montana Capitol,” Sam Forstag lobbied against and publicly called for opposition to legislation that protected girls’ and women’s sports, kept men out of women’s bathrooms, and placed restrictions on gender transition and genitail mutilation surgeries on minors. Time and again, he advanced the ACLU’s radical national agenda over the values of Montana families and parents.
“Montanans deserve a representative who will protect girls’ sports, defend parental rights, and stand up for children instead of advancing a radical gender ideology,” Flint said. “Sam Forstag aligned himself with national activist organizations that pushed biological males into girls’ sports and opposed safeguards for minors. The contrast in this race couldn’t be clearer”
