Christi Jacobsen, afraid to defend her terrible record as Secretary of State, a no-show
Al Olszewski was there
Bozeman, MT – This evening, Trump-endorsed candidate for Western Montana’s congressional district Aaron Flint cleaned the clock of his opponent in the first debate of the primary campaign. Flint delivered a winning message of working with President Trump to tackle the lingering effects of Biden’s inflation, and came away as the clear choice to represent Montana conservatives in the general election. Embattled Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen, who does not live in the district but is still running, did not show up. She faces multiple investigations into her misuse of taxpayer dollars, turning over private voter data to the feds, and campaigning using taxpayer resources. Perennial candidate Al Olszewski was there. He made the drive from the Flathead but didn’t have much to say other than, “I agree with Aaron.”
“Tonight, Aaron Flint proved why President Trump trusts him to represent the great people of Western Montana,” said Heather Swift. “Aaron represents a new generation of conservative leadership who will fight for President Trump’s Montana First agenda, and for Montana families.”
Flint opened the night by introducing himself as a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, who was called to serve our country while watching the Pentagon billow smoke on September 11th. Between deployments, Flint was a local radio host who Montanans have been listening to in their kitchens and cars every morning for years.
Flint laid out the core of his campaign: making Montana affordable again. He focused on restoring the value of a high school diploma, reinvesting in manufacturing and resource extraction, bringing down housing costs, and making sure the next generation has the same opportunities to stay and build a life in Montana. Flint also called for a congressional stock trading ban, a balanced budget amendment, and a no budget, no pay law. He highlighted that politicians in Washington who are not doing their jobs are still getting rich off taxpayer dollars, while working families in Montana are working harder than ever and still falling behind.
The debate, held in Gallatin County at Cavalier Chapel in Bozeman, was hosted by the Montana GOP and moderated by Montana State Senate President Matt Regier.
This was the first debate of the Republican primary in Western Montana. Flint has been calling for more debates since the start of the race, publicly calling for 16 debates in early March. One for each county in Western Montana. Christi Jacobsen and Al Olszewski have declined.
