Promotes trade education, union endorsement, hard work
Kalispell, MT — Republican congressional candidate Aaron Flint released his first campaign advertisement of the general election highlighting his working-class upbringing, 20+ years of military service, and commitment to expanding opportunities in the skilled trades and trades education. The ad comes on the heels of Flint earning the endorsement of Montana’s Carpenters Union, who cited his commitment to trades education, apprenticeships, and good-paying jobs as the basis of their support. Flint is also endorsed by the Montana Contractors Association, the Montana Equipment Dealers, and other trade associations that build Montana’s homes, businesses, and infrastructure.
In the ad, Flint shares his personal story of growing up working multiple jobs to help his single mother keep the lights on and put himself through school before joining the military.
“I’ve never been afraid of hard work,” Flint says in the ad. “I’m tired of Washington politicians looking down on people who work with their hands.”
Flint is making skilled trades education a central part of his campaign, calling for a shop class in every high school and greater investment in trades and apprenticeship programs.
That message has resonated with Montana’s skilled trades community, including Joel Worth, Representative for the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters, who recently highlighted Flint’s focus on affordability, workforce development, and good-paying jobs at a job site in Butte, Montana, where members of the Ironworkers Union were also present to show their support.
“Aaron understands that lowering the cost of living goes hand in hand with strengthening Montana’s workforce and creating good-paying jobs. We know he will support the infrastructure projects and workforce investments that create opportunities for working families across Montana,” Worth said.
Flint’s focus on the skilled trades is directly tied to his plan to make Montana more affordable. Montana faces a shortage of skilled workers at the same time that families are struggling with the rising cost of housing. Flint believes expanding the trades workforce can help Montana build more homes, increase housing supply, and ultimately bring home prices and the cost of construction down.
In the ad, Flint also argues that expanding skilled trades can also help create jobs that are less vulnerable to outsourcing and technological disruption, creating long-term economic security and stable wages for Montana’s future generations.
“Let’s create high-paying jobs that China can’t steal and AI can’t replace,” Flint says in the advertisement.
